It's a terrible tragedy, but the Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami is Nature's way of punishing them for their whale and dolphin killing ways.
George, confident in his ability to stick to his diet, visited several all-you-can-eat restaurants over the last two weeks. Weighing himself at the end of those two weeks, George found that he had gained 10 pounds!
I was talking with a colleague from psych about Poe's Law, and she had said invoking the Law is a version of an availability heursitic — you always remember the religious nutcases, hardly ever the reasonable ones.
I will say that I expected Confirmation Bias to be higher on the list, but I guess that it making the list means that it is nevertheless really, really important.
