{"id":4481,"date":"2013-10-10T16:32:13","date_gmt":"2013-10-10T21:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thenonsequitur.com\/?p=4481"},"modified":"2013-10-10T16:32:13","modified_gmt":"2013-10-10T21:32:13","slug":"the-godwinator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenonsequitur.com\/?p=4481","title":{"rendered":"The Godwinator"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 551px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  \" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/historyday.crf-usa.org\/1819\/UGRRimages\/reward.jpg\" width=\"551\" height=\"475\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fig.1: Obamacare analogy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>George Will, whose pseudo-logical musings at the Washington Post inspired our work here so many years ago,\u00c2\u00a0has moved from ABC to Fox News. \u00c2\u00a0In keeping with the tone of his new employer, he waxes historical about the legality of Obamacare (via <a href=\"http:\/\/talkingpointsmemo.com\/livewire\/george-will-compares-obamacare-to-fugitive-slave-act-segregation\">Talking Points Memo<\/a>):<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\n<p>In an\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2013\/10\/09\/230639663\/george-will-compares-previous-budget-deadlocks-to-past-conflicts?sc=tw&amp;cc=share\">interview<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0with NPR&#8217;s &#8220;Morning Edition,&#8221; host Steve Inskeep asked Will about President Barack Obama&#8217;s argument that Republicans are short-circuiting the system by using government funding and the debt ceiling as leverage to dismantle Obamacare, rather than repealing the law outright.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>&#8220;How does this short-circuit the system?&#8221; Will said. &#8220;I hear Democrats say, &#8216;The Affordable Care Act is the law,&#8217; as though we&#8217;re supposed to genuflect at that sunburst of insight and move on.
