{"id":3772,"date":"2012-09-04T11:19:43","date_gmt":"2012-09-04T16:19:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thenonsequitur.com\/?p=3772"},"modified":"2012-09-04T11:19:43","modified_gmt":"2012-09-04T16:19:43","slug":"vote-for-us-or-well-shoot-the-baby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenonsequitur.com\/?p=3772","title":{"rendered":"Vote for us or we&#8217;ll shoot the baby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2012-09-03\/if-you-think-obama-s-first-term-was-bad-imagine-a-second.html\">This<\/a> is one of the weirder arguments I have heard recently.&nbsp; Making the case, I think, for&nbsp;the Romney\/Ryan ticket, Ramesh Ponnuru argues thusly:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>In the same AP interview, Obama suggested that Republicans would feel pressure &ldquo;<strong>to cooperate on a balanced package<\/strong>&rdquo; on the budget: that is, one with tax increases. <strong>Republicans famously failed to react to their drubbing in 2008 &#8212; after which, let&rsquo;s recall, Time magazine was running cover stories on their impending extinction &#8212; by softening their line on anything.<\/strong> Why would they react that way after an election that goes better for them?
