{"id":3412,"date":"2012-02-17T15:31:02","date_gmt":"2012-02-17T20:31:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thenonsequitur.com\/?p=3412"},"modified":"2012-02-17T15:32:03","modified_gmt":"2012-02-17T20:32:03","slug":"anomalous-regularity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thenonsequitur.com\/?p=3412","title":{"rendered":"Anomalous regularity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignnone\" height=\"420\" src=\"http:\/\/images.wikia.com\/vsrecommendedgames\/images\/c\/c9\/You-keep-using-that-word.jpg\" width=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are a couple of people I now consider it completely safe to ignore: George Will, Charles Krauthammer, Michael Gerson, and of course, David Brooks.&nbsp; These are the guys who inspired this whole project.&nbsp; Every now and then, however, it&#39;s fun to go back and see what&#39;s up with them.&nbsp; Via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/2012\/02\/17\/david_brooks_i_have_heard_of_jeremy_lin\/\">Alex Parene at Salon<\/a>, here&#39;s a gem from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/02\/17\/opinion\/brooks-the-jeremy-lin-problem.html?_r=2&amp;hp=&amp;pagewanted=print\">David Brooks<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Jeremy Lin is anomalous in all sorts of ways. He&rsquo;s a Harvard grad in the N.B.A., an Asian-American man in professional sports. But we shouldn&rsquo;t neglect <strong>the biggest anomaly. He&rsquo;s a religious person in professional sports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We&rsquo;ve become accustomed to the faith-driven athlete and coach, from Billy Sunday to Tim Tebow.<\/strong> But we shouldn&rsquo;t forget how problematic this is.
