I think he is right about that. However, I think he missed completely the cause of it all. In my opinion had more to do with 9/11 than anything else. For the majority of the first term, Bush was not challenged not even by the Left.
Anyway, to his main point, he’s completely right: constructive criticism should be encouraged: “It is better to heed a wise man’s rebuke than to listen to the song of fools.”
